Once an original painting has sold, the only way it subsequently becomes available for sale is when the original owner wishes to sell on their picture - via the Secondary Market.
The same applies when a run of limited edition prints has sold out from the publisher.
Sometimes artwork will appreciate in value; it may have been bought as an investment piece. Perhaps the owner is just downsizing.
The Gallery is happy to facilitate secondary market sales for work by artists we have a specialist knowledge of. We are always glad to see work by Jack Vettriano and especially from the late, much missed, Bill Tolley.
Secondary Market artwork is 'sold as seen' - we will do our best to accurately describe the condition, however we recommend coming to see the artwork in person - secondary market artwork, by definition, is not 'new!'
You will be pleased to hear that secondary market original sales over the sterling equivalent of €1,000 generate a royalty for the creator. The Gallery uses the Design and Copyright Society to handle the artist's royalty. The sale price shown on each listing is inclusive of the Artist's Resale Right royalty.
