Slow and Steady — One Step at a Time by Sam Toft
Mr Mustard and Doris are taking life at their own pace. In this quietly funny scene, Mr Mustard, in his broad-brimmed hat and dark coat, strolls along with Doris, his faithful Jack Russell Terrier, as the pair take “one step at a time”.
Doris may be small, but she is never an afterthought in Mr Mustard’s adventures. Together they have that unmistakable Sam Toft warmth: an ordinary walk turned into a little story about companionship, patience and enjoying the journey.
This is a signed and numbered limited edition print, edition 52 of 119, as shown in the photograph. The print bears Sam Toft’s signature and the embossed Mustard Editions stamp.

This print is part of a rare collection of long sold-out Sam Toft limited editions being offered on the secondary market. The current owner is reluctantly selling the works and hopes to rehome them somewhere they will be appreciated and loved. It is a pleasure to bring them to The Braithwaite Gallery in York, the northern home of all things Tofty for more than two decades and one of Sam’s biggest fans.
Condition
This is a pre-owned, unmounted secondary-market artwork and is offered sold as seen. The print appears to be in good condition apart from small creases to the corners of the paper, which would be covered if the print were mounted.
