Paul Freeman is a Yorkshire artist who creates stunning contemporary landscape art.
Paul and his wife Jayne called into the gallery recently to show us his paintings - we were hugely impressed with his style and phenomenal use of light and shadow, and are de
lighted to be exhibiting his work in York.
Paul seeks out unspoiled wild places, capturing the seasons in watercolour, acrylic or mixed media in his distinctive refreshing contemporary style. His paintings evoke a sense of place, drama, emotion and hope.
Paul tells us:
My whole life has centered around the former mining and steel town of Rotherham, South Yorkshire. I live in the rural village of Ravenfield surrounded by woodland which borders the old Silverwood mine. Every day the scars of industry heal a little more, we feel lucky to live here and so I have to paint these landscapes, where Nature is gaining the upper hand
