Out of the Blue, a mounted limited edition from gallery favourite, the late, great Bill Tolley; selling on behalf of a private collector.
Bill's hot air balloon prints and paintings have long been a favourite at the gallery.
Here, hot air balloons rise over the lake and trees of an idyllic country town, with mountain peaks and blue skies in the background. Bill's jewel like colours and little houses are characteristic of his delightful work.
Out of the Blue was published by Solomon in Whitehead in 2008, as a giclée on paper, with a limited edition run of 225 prints. This is edition 76 of 225, and is hand signed by the artist.
The current owner purchased the print from ourselves at the time of release, and now wishes to sell it on as a recent move has left no suitable wall space.
The print is triple mounted with outer mount dimensions 50x60cm. Mounted by gallery framer Anna, in a soft white colour, the middle mount was hand finished in silver to complement the artwork. The image size is approximately 28x 33cm.
The original Certificate of Authenticity from publisher Solomon & Whitehead is included.
As with all secondary market work, the print is by definition, not new, and are therefore ‘sold as seen.’ We have endeavoured to describe to condition as accurately as possible. The print has been removed from its frame and appears in very good condition.
As Tolley fans will be aware, Bill sadly passed away in 2011, and his work is very rarely offered for sale. The picture in on display on the gallery - an early viewing is recommended. Please phone the gallery on 01904 655707 if you wish to express an interest!
Here at The Braithwaite Gallery, Bill's work has provided us, and our customers, with much joy in art form, for almost 20 years; we initially discovered his work through publishing house Solomon & Whitehead, who published Bill's first limited editions of his stylised little houses, at the same time as they were publishing the figurative work of our own Mark Braithwaite. Happy days indeed!
