On the Piste, a mounted limited edition from gallery favourite, the late, great Bill Tolley. This is edition 141 of 225.
A typically Tolleyesque landscape, full of quirky little houses in tranquil blue tones, where skiers race down the mountain to the jewel coloured village below before heading back up again in the ski lift. The stained glass windows in Bill's ecclesiastical buildings are so pretty.
Re-selling on the secondary market on behalf of a private collector, the initial owner purchased the limited edition directly from publisher, Solomon & Whitehead. It has been stored mounted since publication in 2005, and has never been framed or displayed.
Approximate dimensions: the image size is 17cm wide x 34cm high, with outer mount dimensions of 34x53cm.
As Tolley fans will be aware, Bill sadly passed away in 2011, and his work is very rarely offered for sale.
Here at The Braithwaite Gallery, Bill's work has provided us, and our customers, with much joy in art form, for almost 20 years; we initially discovered his work through publishing house Solomon & Whitehead, who published Bill's first limited editions of his stylised little houses, at the same time as they were publishing the figurative work of our own Mark Braithwaite. Happy days indeed!
