Ow Zat! a mounted limited edition from gallery favourite, the late, great Bill Tolley. This is edition 77 of 225.
One for the cricketers! A typically Tolleyesque landscape, full of quirky little houses in jewel like tones. There's a blue sky overheard and rolling green hills behind. The Sunday afternoon cricket match is in full swing; spectators sit on the grass around the village green, enjoying the hospitality from the marquees. Can you spot the stated glass windows in the church in the foreground - that has to be one of our favourite details as huge Tolley fans.
Re-selling on the secondary market on behalf of a private collector, the initial owner purchased the limited edition directly from publisher, Solomon & Whitehead. It has been stored mounted since publication in 2006, and has never been framed or displayed.
Approximate dimensions: the image size is 17cm wide x 34cm high, with outer mount dimensions of 34x53cm.
As Tolley fans will be aware, Bill sadly passed away in 2011, and his work is very rarely offered for sale.
Here at The Braithwaite Gallery, Bill's work has provided us, and our customers, with much joy in art form, for almost 20 years; we initially discovered his work through publishing house Solomon & Whitehead, who published Bill's first limited editions of his stylised little houses, at the same time as they were publishing the figurative work of our own Mark Braithwaite. Happy days indeed!
