What The Dickens (Square Detail) – Simon Clarke
Fluffy sheep peer from the crooked buildings of a wonderfully Dickensian street, where Scrooge & Marley’s purple shopfront sits beside Bleak House and Fagin’s second-hand goods. A scruffy little dog waits on the pavement, while the teal edge of The Old Curiosity Shop and a cart labelled Great Eggspectations add to Simon Clarke’s playful literary world.
This square crop draws you into the heart of the scene, in a format that sits beautifully alongside Simon’s other square artworks. How many Charles Dickens references can you spot?
