Smugglers B’aa – Simon Clarke
The steep cobbled streets and dramatic coastal scenery of Robin Hood’s Bay meet Simon Clarke’s wonderfully woolly world in Smugglers B’aa. Inspired by a trip to Yorkshire, this characterful scene brings the harbour village’s rich history as an 18th-century smuggling hotspot into his playful imagination.
Simon’s rounded, fluffy sheep and colourful streets capture something of the spirit of olde Yorkshire. It’s a charming meeting of coastal adventure, local history and the gentle humour that makes his work so at home in our gallery in the heart of historic York.
