Whitby Harbour – Mark Braithwaite
Just an hour's drive from York, across the beautiful North York Moors, Whitby is one of North Yorkshire's most picturesque seaside towns — famous for its ruined Abbey and its connections with Bram Stoker's Dracula. This impressive view of the harbour was Mark Braithwaite's first venture into watercolour, painted in 2000.
The composition draws the eye along the boardwalk towards the central lighthouse — an unusual perspective from the sea end of the harbour wall, looking back towards the town. Most artists have preferred the view looking seaward; Braithwaite's choice of this difficult angle gives the picture a compelling sense of depth and intimacy.
This is a limited giclée edition, restricted to just 50 prints, individually signed by the artist. The print is presented in a mount, ready to frame.
