The Ark II – Gary Walton
A vast rust-red ship hull sits beached on the shore, long since claimed by the most extraordinary community of buildings — timber-framed towers, wonky cottages, turrets and chimneys rising improbably skyward, every window glowing with warm light. Moored alongside is a small fishing boat, a harbour gate stands to the right, and on a rocky arch headland to the left, a lighthouse keeps its faithful watch. Above it all, a deep blue-black sky scattered with stars and a crescent moon lends the whole scene an almost mythic grandeur. Extraordinary, immersive, and unlike anything else Gary Walton has ever created.
