Fundraising result — Spring 2024: The winner of Gary Walton's Constellation Cove, chosen by Gary at our Meet the Artist event on 28th April 2024, was Hazel from Lincolnshire. The raffle raised £894 for PAPYRUS. This fundraiser is now closed. No further entries or donations are available through this listing.
Thank you to everyone involved.
Each year we choose a charity to support, and with the help of our amazing artists and customers, we try to do our bit to make a difference for others.
Following the success of our previous fundraiser, artist Gary Walton very generously sent us another beautiful original painting, titled Constellation Cove. Featuring a quaint coastal town asleep under the starlight, this original mixed media artwork was raffled in aid of PAPYRUS.
Gary joined us for a Meet the Artist event on Sunday 28th April 2024, during which he announced the winner.
The painting measures 15 × 31cm image size, with mount dimensions of approximately 29 × 45cm. We left the picture unframed so it could be shipped to the winner anywhere in the world.
Our chosen charity was PAPYRUS, a charity focused on the prevention of young suicide. This charity had a special significance for us, as we lost Jake Braithwaite, son of Anne and Mark, the gallery owners, to suicide in 2018, aged just 20.
PAPYRUS was dedicated to the prevention of suicide in young people. Its fundraising pages are no longer publicly visible, so we are preserving this listing as part of the gallery's fundraising history.
Final fundraiser amount: £894. Previous fundraisers for mental health charity Mind raised £5,825. Huge thanks to everyone involved.
The original event was organised by The Braithwaite Gallery Ltd as a Small Society Lottery, registered with City of York Council.
Special thanks to the lovely ladies at City of York Council's Licensing Unit for processing the registration.
Final PAPYRUS JustGiving record: Our PAPYRUS fundraising projects raised a final total of £18,984, which was donated via JustGiving. PAPYRUS entered administration in September 2026, and its fundraising pages are no longer publicly visible. We were deeply disappointed because PAPYRUS provided a vital resource for young people at risk of suicide. This screenshot preserves the final total and the history of the fundraisers that made it possible.

The idea from you guys is great to collect for such a worthy charity. I think it’s hats off to you people at Braithwaites and to Gary Walton for donating a picture.
Thank you Ray. It was lovely to meet you at our event with Gary. We were thrilled to raise a good sum for a deserving cause.
