UPDATE - The raffle winner of Constellation Cove, chosen by Gary Walton at our Meet the Artist Event on 28th April '24, was Hazel from Lincolnshire. The raffle has raised £894 for PAPYRUS. THANK YOU to all involved.
You can still donate to our PAPYRUS fundraiser via the link on this page, or on our JustGiving page.
Each year we choose a charity to support, and with the help of our amazing artists and customers, we try to do our bit to try to make a difference for others.
Following on from the success of our last fundraiser, Artist Gary Walton has very generously sent us another beautiful original painting, titled 'Constellation Cove'. Featuring a quaint coastal town asleep under the starlight, this original mixed media will be up for grabs through a raffle in aid of PAPYRUS.
Artist Gary Walton will be joining us for a 'Meet the Artist' event on Sunday 28th April 2024, during which he will announce the winner.
TICKETS can be bought online or by phone in blocks of 5 for £10, or in person at the gallery for £2 each.
nb You will be assigned a ticket number/ block of 5 numbers. You will receive an email to confirm receipt however we will not be posting physical tickets.
In previous fundraisers, people have asked to donate to the charity without entering the raffle, so there is now also the option to donate £10 to the charity.
The painting measures 15x31cm (image size) with mount dimensions of approximately 29x45cm. We have left the picture unframed so we can ship the painting to the winner anywhere in the world.
Our chosen charity is once again PAPYRUS, a charity focused on the Prevention of Young Suicide. This charity has a special significance for us, as we lost Jake Braithwaite, son of Anne and Mark, the gallery owners, to suicide in 2018, aged just 20.
After last year's Christmas fundraiser with Gary we sent £2577 to PAPYRUS via JustGiving. At 1st February 2024 the total raised stands at £6924. Previous fundraisers for mental health charity Mind raised £5825. Huge thanks to everyone involved.
PAPYRUS tells us: "Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK. We believe many young suicides can be prevented. Through fundraising you are raising vital awareness of PAPYRUS and spreading our message of hope."
This has been organised by The Braithwaite Gallery Ltd as a Small Society Lottery, registered with City of York Council, registration number CYC-071646.
Special thanks to the lovely ladies at City of York Council's Licensing Unit for speedily processing the registration.
We also have a JustGiving page if anyone wishes to donate without entering the raffle.
