There is something irresistibly joyful about Sunshine Tours. Mr Mustard takes to the road in his wonderfully eccentric bicycle carriage, a motley and magnificent crew of dogs in tow — dotty dalmatians, silky black labs, scruffy terriers, and a rather self-important dachshund — accompanied by a cheerful riot of sunflowers. Almondine the blue budgie has come along for the ride too. It is the sort of scene that makes you smile before you have even worked out why.
Sharp-eyed collectors will notice one notable absentee: Doris the Jack Russell is nowhere to be seen. One suspects she has made the rather sensible decision to stay home with good lady Violet, a pot of tea, and a digestive biscuit.
Warm golden tones and Sam's signature playful detail make this a piece that rewards a second look — and a third. It sits beautifully in any room that could do with a little more sunshine.
