Rat a Tat Railings – Shaun Tymon
Down a quiet lamplit street, Wreny strides with purpose — stick in hand, trailing it along the iron railings with a satisfying rat a tat tat that echoes into the cold winter air. The trees stand bare and skeletal against the pale sky, their empty branches cradling forgotten birds' nests, silent until spring. It's a small act of mischief, a moment of pure childhood joy, captured with warmth and wit.
This A4 original charcoal and carbon pencil drawing on paper is presented double mounted in a pewter and black angled frame. Please note there is a scuff to the bottom of the frame — the price has been set to reflect this.
About the Artist
My name is Shaun Tymon. I'm a self-taught artist from Hull. I've always enjoyed drawing, painting and creating things for as long as I can remember — most of my artwork is based on my childhood and memories of growing up on the streets of Hull in the 80s and 90s. Hopefully that nostalgia comes through in my work. I'm forever thinking up little characters, most of which have symbolic meanings behind them. My little character 'Wreny', for example, is a nod to my late father who sadly passed away — he was a bird fanatic, and so you won't find little Wreny more than a stone's throw away from his partner in crime, his little feathered friend Wren.
