Cheese & Piccalilli – Anthony Marn
A chunk of Stilton, a scattering of purple grapes and a jar of homemade piccalilli: quite a feast for three tiny, uninvited guests. One mouse sits on the golden jar lid, nibbling away as its shadow stretches across the wall, while two companions tuck into the tempting treats below.
The mustard-yellow pickle and creamy, blue-veined cheese glow against the softly weathered background, with delicate whiskers and curious little faces giving the scene its gentle humour. Anthony Marn's wildlife paintings have a vintage, nostalgic charm reminiscent of Beatrix Potter's sketches. Here, an ordinary kitchen shelf becomes a storybook supper, full of mischief and small pleasures.

About Anthony Marn
Born in Manchester in 1963, Anthony Marn lives with his family on the edge of the Pennines in the North of England. He works exclusively in oils, exploring the possibilities of light and colour. His career has included successful solo exhibitions and an appearance on the BBC's Show Me the Monet.
