Zombie Apocalypse

Gallery Resident Artist Mark Braithwaite says he needed something to entertain himself whilst working in the studio on his more serious City Shadows project during the winter of 2021.... He chose to amuse himself by painting zombies. When he brought the paintings and prints into the gallery we rather enjoyed the results.

Following on from the success of his 'Zombie Apocalypse' series, Mark has expanded the range to create the 'From the Shadows' collection, of other supernatural beings and mystical happenings. York is the most haunted city in Europe after all, so he's not short of inspiration.

The series has been an unexpected success and Mark has enjoyed the freedom of letting his imagination run wild, so has been adding to the collection whenever inspiration strikes. We now have Vampires, Witches and Ghosts, as well as Viking and Roman Zombies, as well as some famous characters from York's history, including Erik Bloodaxe, Dick Turpin and Guy Fawkes.
