Artist Neil Pengelly explains ‘This is my interpretation of the wonderful (if sometimes odd) story of Alice in Wonderland. Wouldn’t we all like to take a trip here one day! Eat a mushroom to make you grow, or eat another to make you shrink. Talking caterpillars, time efficient talking rabbits and a tart-loving Queen who wants to chop off your head….or a frogs, depends on the mood. For a book written in 1862, this is pretty messed up, even for me. It’s why I bloody love it! So, take a trip with me and see if you can find the Cheshire Cat, The rabbit and his clock, and the lurking Queen of Hearts along with some other curiouser and curiouser references. Most of all, enjoy the scenery and wonder to yourself where that rainbow road may head off to?’
Northants based artist Neil Pengelly has been honing his skills in drawing, painting and, more recently, digital artworks since a child and has now found the style of creating artworks that marries all of them.
Neil’s artworks have evolved from the chalk and charcoal figurative pieces to a more exciting and looser blaze of colours with varying subject matters. He found that that there are limitless possibilities with digital art that he would never be able to recreate with paintbrushes and pencils but likes to stay authentic to his art and so each print and frame is resplendent with added touches of acrylic and oil paints, and bejewelled with diamond dust, micro glitters. The limited edition has been finished with a protective UV sealant.
