Winter's Solitude – Mark Braithwaite
A solitary tree stands stark against a dramatic Yorkshire winter sky — deep purples fading to warm gold along the horizon, a snow-covered lane stretching away into the distance. Mark Braithwaite was inspired by a snowy drive along the road from Stonegrave on the North York Moors, and the tree simply demanded to be painted. The result is one of his most striking and atmospheric landscapes.
