Silent Night, Bootham Bar
A atmospheric print of from Mark Braithwaite’s  Silent Night collection.
In the shadow of York Minster on a snowy winter’s evening lies Bootham Bar, one of the four original main entrances to the City. Located at the northern gateway to York, it is the oldest of the four bars with some stones dating back to the 11th century. It is topped by three statues beneath which would have been displayed the heads of traitors as a warning to others.
A beautiful atmospheric image which glows with warmth by the light of a single lamppost despite the cold of the season.
