Following the success of his Rave limited edition, Neil has created Shine On, his interpretation of the late 80s and early 90s era of Manchester.
Did you know that legendary Manchester venue The Hacienda opened 40 years ago? Oasis were on the doorstep (literally in the artwork!), The Stone Roses were gods, The Happy Mondays were cool, The Charlatans and The Inspiral Carpets made the organ sound rock again.
Neil tells us ‘This was MY time. This was when I became a man. I danced like Bez, I acted like Brown, I had a haircut like Ryder, Burgess and Boon! This was MY life. Anyone who is anyone will know the inference and meaning to all the references in this artwork, of which there are too many to mention.’
Northants based artist Neil Pengelly has been honing his skills in drawing, painting and, more recently, digital artworks since a child and has now found the style of creating artworks that marries all of them.
Neil’s artworks have evolved from the chalk and charcoal figurative pieces to a more exciting and looser blaze of colours with varying subject matters. He found that that there are limitless possibilities with digital art that he would never be able to recreate with paintbrushes and pencils but likes to stay authentic to his art and so each print and frame is resplendent with added touches of acrylic and oil paints, and bejewelled with diamond dust, micro glitters. The limited edition has been finished with a protective UV sealant.
