Open the Soup – Anthony Marn
Two little mice appear to have lunch firmly in their sights in Anthony Marn’s Open the Soup. One perches on a crusty piece of bread, a tiny morsel held between its paws, while its companion leans over the edge of a red Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup tin. Pink ears, delicate whiskers and curling tails give these endearing characters a wonderful sense of gentle mischief.
The familiar soup tin and scattered breadcrumbs turn an everyday still life into a small story to linger over. Warm golden-brown tones and the rich red tin stand out against a muted, textured wall, with deep shadows lending the scene a nostalgic, old-world warmth. For anyone with a soft spot for mice, there is plenty of quiet storytelling charm in this hopeful little lunch party.
Open the Soup is an original oil painting on board by Anthony Marn, presented in a soft grey scoop-profile frame.
A Hidden Mouse Remarque
There is another little mouse to discover on the reverse of the frame: Anthony has drawn a tiny remarque in pencil, a personal finishing touch from the artist. Hidden from view when the painting is displayed, it is a lovely extra detail for its owner to enjoy.
