Morning Walk – Dotty Earl
From Dotty Earl's Tall Stories series — where the figures are always gloriously oversized. It's early. The cobbled street curves away between rows of terraced houses, windows still glowing with the last of the indoor warmth. Factory chimneys rise against a heavy, dramatic sky — the mills are already at work. A tall figure in a long tan coat strides purposefully up the hill, the only soul about. On the pavement behind him, a black cat slips out for its own morning adventure. There's a nostalgic, almost cinematic quality to this scene — a northern town caught in that quiet moment before the day properly begins.
Dotty works in mixed media — watercolour with pastel and coloured pencil, with a smidge of charcoal and ink pen thrown in — giving her work a soft, whimsical quality that is entirely her own. She calls it The Twirly World of Dotty Earl.

About Dotty Earl
Dotty was born and grew up on the Wirral, and was drawn to art from a young age — going on to study at Wirral Metropolitan College before earning a degree in Film and Animation at the University of Humberside. She spent many years as a digital artist and animator in the computer games industry, illustrating novels and designing artwork for clothing lines along the way.
Dotty now lives in a small Yorkshire village, where her love of painting bright, colourful characters — created to make people smile — continues to grow.
