Bread & Jam – Anthony Marn
Two tiny mice have discovered a feast worth lingering over: a jar of damson jam, a crusty loaf and a pat of butter on a well-worn kitchen shelf. One balances on the jam jar lid while its companion nestles beside the bread, their whiskers and soft brown fur catching the light against the deep, dark background.
There is a lovely, nostalgic storybook feel to Anthony Marn's wildlife paintings, reminiscent of the charm of Beatrix Potter's sketches. Here, familiar kitchen treasures become a small adventure, full of mischief and the quiet pleasure of an unexpected treat.
