Secondary market original artwork.
A charming original by Sam Toft, featuring her much-loved Mustards in a colourful countryside scene. Ernest sits on a wooden bench, cuddling his faithful dog Doris, surrounded by lavender fields, a bright sunflower field and a patch of poppies. Distant blue hills sit beneath a pale, textured sky.
You may recognise this artwork, which was previously published as an oversized limited edition and has long since sold out.
This mixed-media artwork is painted on board and was purchased from an exhibition at Treeby & Bolton in Keswick, Cumbria, on 22 October 2016. Sam has signed the reverse and added a personal illustration featuring the original owner's collie dogs, making this a particularly special piece for a Sam Toft collector.
Sam's team valued the original at £2,950 in 2026. It is supplied with a certificate of authenticity from the publisher, Collier & Dobson.

The artwork is offered as a secondary market original and is sold as seen. We have described its condition as accurately as possible.
Delivery and collection
Because this is a precious original with art glass, we will not ship it in its frame. If you would like to keep the frame, please contact the gallery to arrange collection from our York city-centre gallery. For online orders, we will remove the artwork from its frame for safety and ship the mounted artwork only.
When an original painting is sold on the secondary market, a percentage of the sale goes back to the artist through the Artist's Resale Right Scheme, handled by the Design & Copyright Society. It feels especially fitting that Sam should continue to benefit from the sale of her beautiful work.
Sam Toft's characters, known as The Mustards, have a legion of loyal fans. She describes herself as their Official Picture Maker and Story Teller, creating warm, whimsical scenes for people who find the world a little stranger than fiction.
