Description
Inspired by Mark Braithwaite’s Beneath the Sheets series of ghostly pictures, gallery staff member Ian has created a collection of Ghosts in The Gallery.
Each ghostly figurine is individually crafted from air drying clay, and hand painted with pearlised paint.
Each ghost is unique so has their own name and character.
The medium size (approximately 11cm high) is illuminated by a battery operated tea light.
Other sizes are available in the gallery.
The ghosts are only available in person at the gallery, and cannot be purchased online due to their fragile nature. The gallery is open seven days a week in the heart of historic York, close to the Minster.
When Mark painted his Guy Fawkes themed Treason and Plot picture, we were fascinated to find the plot was foiled by a letter written to Lord Monteagle, which also happens to be Ian’s surname. Mark created a special Enchanted picture for Ian with the words Lord Monteagle illuminated across the gunpowder keg, and this seemed the obvious name for Ian’s ghostly creative endeavour.
