From the Shadows; Mars Attacks! ... by Mark Braithwaite
Sow-mageddon strikes!
Continuing Mark's Farm-aggedon series. This time it's pigs!
Special thanks to the artist's daughter for the idea behind this fun painting.
Inspired by 1950s sci-fi, Mark has painted an invasion of spaceships, arriving out of a stunning purple sky lit by lightning strikes.
The little green men are beaming up the farmer's pigs (couldn't think of the collective noun for pigs!) straight out of their sty. Poor old farmer - he's lost cows, sheep, pigs and Mrs Farmer to Mars Attacks this week!
Following on from the success of his 'Zombie Apocalypse' series, Gallery Resident Artist Mark Braithwaite has expanded the range to create the 'From the Shadows' collection, of other supernatural beings and mystical happenings. York is the most haunted city in Europe after all, so he's not short of inspiration!
Mark tells us "This is the latest in my fun series of spooky illustrations, 'From the Shadows' painted in watercolour and mixed media. In the sky I have used Schminke Horadam Supergranulation watercolours which made the unusual skies happen, and Opal paint, which create an iridescent effect."
There are now lots of images in Mark’s From the Shadows series - why not take a look at the entire collection as there's a multi buy offer!
Each image is printed as a giclée on watercolour paper, image size approximately 17x17cm, and presented in an antique white 30x30cm mount; a larger 40x40cm size is available presented in a black mount.
These mounts will fit into a metric standard size frames - take a look at our framing section for ideas.
