Free Path – Anna Schofield
A quiet path leads towards a sunlit opening in Free Path, an original oil painting on canvas board by Anna Schofield. Fresh greens gather beneath trees touched with soft pink, peach and rose, while a glimpse of turquoise-blue sky lends the scene an airy, uplifting feel.
Thickly layered strokes give the foliage a richly tactile surface, contrasting with the softer sweep of the path beneath it. Deep shadows at the edges make the light ahead feel all the more inviting, capturing the simple pleasure of wandering somewhere peaceful, with time to follow the path a little further.
Anna creates her artworks from memory, giving her the freedom to express the emotions a place leaves behind. Her decisive brushwork and richly textured surfaces lend each painting its own energy and character.
