Flood Lights by Mark Braithwaite
Following the floods which devastated much of York on Boxing Day, December 2015, Gallery Resident Artist Mark Braithwaite painted Flood Lights. The original painting was raffled in March 2016 at the Hold Back the River fundraiser concert at York Barbican, hosted by BBC Radio York presenters Jonathan Cowap and Adam Tomlinson.
An amazing £1192 was raised by the raffle and presented to the York Flood Appeal.
The image was also used as the cover over the charity CD Bridge Over Troubled Water by York Sporano Rebecca Newman.
Here, Clifford's Tower can be seen across the lamp light flood water in Tower Gardens. Amazingly the lamps remained lit throughout the floods.
