Beside a soft-boiled egg in a gleaming silver-coloured egg cup, a bright-eyed mouse nibbles its prize, its oversized pink ears and curling tail adding to the gentle mischief. Broken eggshell rests on the wooden ledge, while olive-green tones, textured walls and deep shadows lend the scene a nostalgic, old-world warmth.

For anyone with a soft spot for mice and their mischievous ways, this endearing little breakfast thief brings a quiet storytelling charm to the painting.

Light catches the egg cup and the mouse’s delicate whiskers, bringing this intimate little scene to life.
