RAFFLE: WIN a PAUL HEELEY ORIGINAL PAINTING and support Choose2Youth
Many of our lovely customers will already be aware that we lost our amazing son, Jake Braithwaite, earlier this year, aged just 20.
We asked that funds raised in Jake's name be donated to Choose2Youth, a local not-for-profit social enterprise working with children, young people, and adults with disabilities and/or additional needs. Jake had attended the group, firstly as a member, and later as a young leader, teaching camping skills to participants of the club's inclusive Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. We were so proud when, in November last year, Jake was presented with his Gold Award by Prince Edward at St James' Palace.
Choose2Youth are planning to build an accessible camp fire shelter at Snowball Plantation, an outdoor activity centre in York used by many local groups. There are several shelters there already, but none fully accessible to people with mobility issues.
In addition to funds to cover costs, the club are asking for people to help with the design, materials, and to actually build the shelter.

The raffle prize, a fabulous painting of York Minster from the city walls, by artist Paul Heeley, was specially chosen as Jake loved to walk the city walls with his mum and little sister. We had an amazing response to another of Paul's paintings, fundraising for DementiaUK last Christmas, and thank Paul once again for his kind support of this project.
The painting measures 16x12" and would retail in the gallery at £250. The painting is currently on display in the gallery on Low Petergate.
Raffle tickets are available from the gallery for £2 each, or online in strips of 5 for £10.
One of Choose2Youth's young people will draw the winning ticket on Saturday 22nd December 2018.
