Dog Artist John Silver
John Silver's originals and Limited Edition Prints enjoy a privileged position in the market. He is particularly well known for his dog subjects, but he also turns his talent to fantasy art and figurative work.
Born in Macclesfield, he studied art at Manchester Polytechnic and then at North Staffordshire Polytechnic. He worked initially in a graphics agency as well as opening a picture framing gallery with his wife Lesley, painting in any spare time. After ten years of juggling jobs, he decided it was time to concentrate solely on painting and had his first work published as Limited Edition Prints.
John says "Dogs have always played an important role in my life. I feel that in order to paint a good picture of a dog, one must get into its mind and almost 'become' the animal. To know how a dog thinks and behaves is enormously important for me."
