WILDLIFE from artist Lyndsey Selley
Self-taught wildlife artist Lyndsey Selley works primarily in acrylic and gouache.
Born in Derby, she began her artistic career as a figurine painter for Royal Crown Derby. Her first wildlife commissions were to illustrate a series of childrens books, which introduced her to the subject she was destined to paint.
Initially, reference materials were from zoos and wildlife parks; but as her work progressed, she travelled to South Africa to see animals in their natural habitat. The fantastic light in South Africa provided the inspiration for many more paintings.
Lyndsey is fascinated by the eyes - the life and soul of her paintings.
In addition to work published by Solomon & Whitehead, Lyndsey self-publishes much of her recent work. The Braithwaite Gallery is pleased to be working directly with Lyndsey to retail her latest prints. nb: All dimensions are approximate
