TUSCAN LANDSCAPE from artist Geoffrey Smith
The Braithwaite Gallery is delighted to be stocking original paintings by Geoffrey Smith.
Born in Manchester in 1945, Geoff studied graphic design at the Mid Cheshire College of Art. Although he had a successful career outside the art world, he continued showing his work at various galleries around Manchester and Cheshire. Since retiring from business in 2001, he has painted full-time in the Lake District, but recently moved to live in York.
A landscape artist working mainly in oils, he is inspired by light and atmosphere, especially the effects on wwater, with his favourite subjects being seascapes, harbours, rivers, and locations Venice, Provence, London and Cornwall.
His work has sold in galleries throughout the UK and America, and was short-listed for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2006.
