2 Signal Regiment

In 2001, following the record floods of November 2000, 2 Signal Regiment were awarded the freedom of the City of York following their around the clock sand-bagging efforts to save they city from disaster.

To commemorate this award, artist M.J. Braithwaite was commissioned to paint a picture of soldiers from the Regiment sandbagging along the riverbank with the Minster in the background.
