Resident artist at The Braithwaite Gallery in York, Mark is a self-taught artist, working in watercolour, oil, acrylic and pastel.
He has become a well known tourist attraction in the city over many years, painting outisde in the streets of our beautiful city!
His vast portfolio cover subjects as diverse as cityscapes, telephone boxes and dancers!
Ths section concentrates on The Victorian York Collection - the first paintings Mark ever printed for sale on his stall in the city back in the early 1990s! It all started here!
Mark's now trademark style of attention to detail and bold Impressionist colours can be seen emerging from these first works.
Mark has tended to paint in acrylc on canvas whilst painting outdoors, as acrylic has the benefit of drying quickly and being resilient to Yorkshire's changeable weaher conditions! On sunny summer days in the city you may have seen Mark painting in watercolour !
Mark's trademark black cat, Lucy, makes an appearance in almost all of Mark's cityscape pictures.
